Swing and Location Considerations
Swing selection issues
The Two Bench and matching Wheelchair Accessible swing models are designed as a set to provide optimum therapeutic and social recreation for both ambulatory and wheelchair-use individuals.
Resident demographics, space issues or facility design, and financial considerations will determine the number and type of models ideal for you.
Placement needs
Place your swings in easily accessible and high visibility areas. Also, you must have a hard, level surface. You must have enough space for adequate and safe swing use, and entry and exit.
Swing dimensions -
*Height - 7'4"
*Swing base - approximately 7' x 8'
Surface requirements -
*A level, flat surface such as cement, wood, brick or patio blocks
Space needed -
This depends on location of swing entry and exit, and your specific needs. If your swing is placed adjacent to walkways, or access to all sides is not necessary, additional space requirements may be reduced. Space options are reviewed in the Swing and Location Consideration Guide (686k) .
